Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was far from freely in the final set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
