I'll overwhelm 'credible combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants met personally to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice world heavyweight champion Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

Despite such comments, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically known for his dramatics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul rather criticized former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's largest financial successes, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the customary face-off, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the match is actually going ahead.
