Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
