Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Acquisition for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a prolific goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League side.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer have now been completed.
Consistent Goalscoring to Boost the Forward Line
The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major boost to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when the club seem to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
