Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
