The artist has given the entirety of his £25k honor winnings to the MVT, which functions to preserve the UK's grassroots music venues.

He was given the award on mid-October as his third album the album was declared the top album of the last 12 months.

Fender has chosen to hand the money over to the MVT, in recognition of the vital role small stages had in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these locations have shut down – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight small stages across the UK.

The money assisted locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues received financial assistance in improving amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted musicians and audiences.

"The notion that revenue from performances in big venues helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

Fender is among several artists to give his award funds to worthy causes.

In the band received the award in 1996 for their album the album, vocalist the singer declared that the act would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, musician Ms Dynamite split her bounty between several good causes, such as the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective contributed their prize money to the local youth club that developed their band, as well as other independent music bodies.

Additionally winners that year the group gave their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," said artist Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we could do without the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success impacted the lives of others."

In the past week, the MVT shared it had saved two grassroots venues in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.

One venue in the city and the second in the city were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
