The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the most recent animated adventure by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple agonizing personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the official score of the same name, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the animated show will have a few surprises and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
