The Princess of Wales's Yearly Yuletide Service of Carols Honours Charity Helpers

The Princess of Wales is hosting her annual Christmas carol concert at the iconic London venue, with a congregation comprising dignitaries, stars, and everyday helpers who have supported their local areas.

The large audience will listen to a blend of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from stars like award-winning actors.

Centred Around Love and Generosity

The theme of the concert, held in the candle-lit Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Attending the event are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose child passed away from a brain tumour, and who set up a charity, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to support families who have a youngster facing a life-limiting condition.

"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an profound impact to the circumstances of individuals," wrote Catherine in a letter ahead of the carol service.

A Steady Comeback

The royal has been undertaking her own steady comeback to public life subsequent to her illness and medical care, last month delivering her initial major address in two years, in which she discussed recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Musical Talent and Access

Attendees entering the Abbey will enjoy performances from budding artists backed by the Future Talent charity, co-founded by the Duchess of Kent to increase availability of musical tuition.

Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who plays the trumpet and is from Pembrokeshire, has been supported by the organisation, with grants helping towards instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in the concert.

"Music can be very expensive," the musician remarked. She is now studying at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to develop their musical skills.

A Sisterly Duo

Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who is a euphonium player, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Among the guests will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will include Saphia Turner, aged nine, winner of a young hero award, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to collect donations for community pantries.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

Taking to the stage will be recording artist Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a Cornish sea shanty group, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "the perfect culmination."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be televised and shown on a major network on Christmas Eve.
