In a severely negative analysis, the defence committee declared that Britain is "significantly behind" where it needs to be to properly protect itself and its partners, notably during a period when military risks to European nations are "substantial".

The investigation determined that Britain is failing to meet its international defence duties and dropping "far short" of its claimed leadership position.

Earlier this year, the Defence Secretary revealed proposals to transition Britain to "military alertness", featuring substantial funding to enable the building of new weapons plants.

Nonetheless, following an extended inquiry, the military oversight panel warned that the UK and its continental partners continued to be too reliant on the America and were not spending enough resources on their independent security.

"Putin's aggressive incursion of the Eastern European country, continuous propaganda efforts, and ongoing incursions into continental skies mean that we should not permit to ignore reality," declared the committee chair.

The panel chairman noted that the committee had "frequently encountered concerns about Britain's capability to secure itself from military action".

The specific proposals contained a call for the leadership to speed up the pace of production modernization and make "readiness" a essential objective.

The security agency is currently evaluating 13 areas where it believes the new plants could be built and has named the areas of the nation where they are situated.

There are three potential sites in the Scottish region, while in southern Britain, a multiple sites have been designated, with two in Wales.

The government wants at least six new factories to be operational by the upcoming vote in 2029, and hopes work will start on the first of these next year.
